Mother Tongue Maintenance |
|
Students at Uptown Primary have rich and complex mutilingual backgrounds. This means a large number of students must access the curriculum in a language other than their mother tongue. In the earlier stages of life when a child is learning to communicate in a mother tongue, he or she is learning to use language symbolically in order to construct meaning and to interact.
Uptown Primary School underwrites the IB philosophy to maintain the student's mother tongue language (the student's first language or the language most spoken at home). We welcome support from parents who are willing to help us deliver our Mother Tongue Maintenance programme.
